Bogarts brought DevilDriver, Holy Grail, Incite and Hemlock to town for a night of rock and metal. Opening the evening was Hemlock a very excitable, good time, entertain everyone kind of band. Behind lead singer and bassist Chad Smith, they came tonight to get the party started and that they did. I have never heard a band ask the ladies in the crowd to bang their heads till they throw up, until now. What a metal way to get the night started!

Incite came out hard and fast reminiscent of the 80’s and 90’s speed metal working the crowd into a frenzy. Lead singer Richie Cavalera worked the crowd with his screaming vocals and the bands patented thrash sound. Their newest album “Oppression”, which is out now, filled the set with new songs accompanied with old favorites, treating fans to the metal feast of the Incite sound. Holy Grail is a band that for me brings back the British Invasion of the late 70’s early 80’s, with their sound and look. Lead singer James-Paul Luna donned leather spiked wrist bracers and the bands dueling guitars, brought back visions of early Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.

When headliners DevilDriver took the stage, the crowd was prepared for the onslaught that was to come. Lead singer Dez Fafara entered the stage with his metal swagger and his retro microphone growling the lyrics to “End the Line”. Mike Spreitzer and Neal Tiemann, guitarists for the band filled the air with screaming riffs as the rhythm section of bassists Diego Ibarra and drummer Austin D'Amond rounded out the heavy deep pounding sound you could feel in your chest. It appeared that each band member played faster and harder to keep up with their band mates who were ironically trying to keep up with them. Red, yellow and white stage lights shattered the darkness filling the concert hall with a visual assault matching the thundering music from the band. Fans pumped their fists and banged their heads through the set featuring songs, “Dead to Rights”, “Pure Sincerity” and new songs of their 7th studio album “Trust no one” with “Daybreak” and “My Night Sky”.

Check out the dates below and if you can get out and check out this tour and these bands, do yourself a favor and explore your metal appetite with DevilDriver.
