Being my first time shooting at US Bank Arena, or as I knew it growing up “Riverfront Coliseum”, I was so excited to finally get my chance to cover a show here. On this fall evening I was fortunate enough to experience this incredible show with As Lions, SiXX AM, Shinedown and Five Finger Death Punch. Openers As Lions from London England started the evening with a great sounding set in support of their debut album being released in January of 2017 titled “Selfish Age”.

Sixx:A.M entered the stage among smoke and the pounding drums of Dustin Steinke followed by guitarist DJ Ashba, legendary bassist Nikki Sixx and lead singer James Michael. With Songs “This Is Gonna Hurt” and “Rise” DJ showed the extent of his guitar work and style that wows the crowd. James Michael really knows how to work and excite the crowd with his incredible voice and his infectious demeanor bringing everyone into the set with the band. Nikki Sixx started this band as his Motely Crue career came to a close and this band really brings the noise. Shinedown is always a band to see and they put on a great show with their fiery stage show, incredible musicians and dynamic lead singer Brent Smith. Smith works the crowd and relays such a positive message that he shares the contagious uplifting ere about the band that draws you in and increases the enjoyment of the show for all. Behind drummer Barry Kerch the flames of the pyro running the stage risers gave off the heat that accompanied his work on the skins and the amazing music of this incredible band. Bassist Eric Bass and guitarist Zach Meyers work the stage alongside Smith with their string work and high energy presence. Playing hits like “Adrenaline”, “Unity” and “State of my head” along with Lynyrd Skynyrd cover “Simple Man”, Shinedown showed their love for music, talent and versatility.

When headliner Five Finger Death Punch came to the stage the crowd at US Bank arena in Cincinnati was worked into such a frenzy that the place exploded with the first note. A large black curtain covered the front of the stage with the FFDP logo spinning as a voice over repeatedly saying “I’m as mad as hell and I can’t take it anymore” and then Boom the curtain dropped and we were off. As the music started and the band began to play the opening song, “Lift me up”, Ivan Moody began his vocal assault on the filled arena. With the dueling guitars of Jason Hook and Zoltan Bathory, FFDP rocks hard and loud from the rhythm of their strings to the wailing magical notes throughout tonight’s musical set. Local boy Chris Kael banged out his heavy notes and worked the crowd with his bass mastery wearing his Cincinnati Bengals hat and swinging his incredible long dreaded beard. Playing hits like “Wash it all away”, “Jekyll and Hyde”, “Burn MF” and Bad Company Cover “Bad Company” this band leaves all their talent and emotion on the stage. Song after song and hit after hit the crowd was kept on their feet the entire set banging heads and pumping fists while they passed over the waves crowd surfers all the way to the stage. If you get a chance to catch any of these bands live do not hesitate to get out and experience them in person.
