In This Moment: A Star-Crossed Wasteland
Century Media Records
Review By Kevin

The best way to describe In This Moment's third album is the same way one would describe the month of March "In like a lion and out like a lamb". The album comes at you with every ferocious pace at the beginning and calms down as if you are in the eye of a hurricane, and then hits you over the head when you least expect it. From moments of rage to moments of melancholy, this album blends singing and screaming better than most efforts this year. As a matter of fact, this is easily one of the best albums to come out this year period.
Throughout the entire album, it can be seen just how heavy Maria Brink can lay it down on the vox. She is a chameleon that can adapt to any atmosphere, every track she gives it all and leaves it all on this album. The lead guitarist Chris Howorth, makes his mark all throughout this album and shreds as well as some of the heroes of metal today. As a matter of fact, the entire band is very tight and flow with great precision.
The highlights as far as the songs go, are by far "Just Drive", "The Promise", "Blazin", and "Iron Army". These songs show the varying styles of In This Moment, however the entire album is amazing and is one of those that you the listener can go front to back without skipping a single track. This album will make anyone into a fan of them if you were not before or if you are a first time listener. Just the way everything is presented to the listener comes together to create "ear candy".
In closing, In This Moment are one of the best bands to come out in the past 5 years and they deserve to be bigger than they are right now. Maria Brink is one of the best singers in metal right now, and Chris Howorth is one of the fastest rising guitarists in the metal scene right now. With that combo they could rule the world of metal. Its time that some of the older bands out there start stepping up before their spots get taken by the young lions!
