Kill The Masses
Self Titled
2009
Review By ~Downshifter
I must admit I have been spinning this cd for about 2 weeks, and it is bad ass. For me it was not one of those cds you have to listen to over and over, and the more you listen the more you like... I just liked it straight out from the start. I especially enjoy listening to it while driving at night, and going balls out. From the opening instrumental Intro it is apparent that Kill The Masses are Serious Musicians and they just click together well as a unit. I don't like Labels, and I'm not quite sure what you would call it, but it just works well. The guitar works is a full on assault of speed, brilliant with the right amount of crunch. Its almost as the dual guitars are in a full out dog fight going back and forth yet they compliment each other and that is captured great in the Mixing. The percussion in the bad ass drumming and the Bass work add great depth to these songs especially on McLovin, a slower instrumental that just sounds awesome.
Now one thing I really like about this CD versus previous Kill The Masses recordings is the Progression of the Vocals and the duality in the vocals, with killer backing vox.. It really adds a bitchen element to this cd, you can get a taste of it in Take a long walk off a short pier and Spainglish and one of the gems on the album Johnny T-Bone.
So Yah, You could say I like this album and give it 2 thumbs up, I will be taking this cd for another spin after dark tonight, and by that I mean I'm hitting Highway 95 with KTM cranked and the pedal to the floor.
