Nightwish and Amorphis

For those not lucky enough to go on the 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise, fans of both Nightwish and Amorphis were privileged to one show in the United States - at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles.

After goth rock openers Dommin played, Amorphis hit the stage, performing their excellent brand of Finnish metal, which infuses folk, prog, symphonic and death metal, and proved to be sufficiently awesome in a live setting as well (although the band primarily stuck with their more recent material). The crowd also seemed to enjoy Amorphis quite a bit, despite being mainly full of Nightwish diehards.

Amorphis setlist:

Silver Bride
Towards and Against
Sky Is Mine
My Kantele
The Castaway
The Smoke
You I Need
House of Sleep

Once Amorphis relatively short set list was over, Nightwish soon hit the stage to thousands of eager and excited fans (keep in mind this is Nightwish's first appearance in North America since the release of Imagaerum, aside form a small secret gig a couple days earlier), with a beginning intro of Finlandia, and then delving into their first song, Storytime. Everyone in the band looked just as ecstatic as the fans at the front of the rail, and the performance was full of energy. Even if you're not much of a fan of Nightwish, they're definitely a great band to catch live, and will hopefully be making their headlining tour rounds throughout the country soon enough.
