VOIVOD
TATSUMAKI
DVD
MVD VISUAL

Review By ~Downshifter

Filmed on location in Japan in 2008, Tatsumaki is a must have, bad ass dvd from the true legends Voivod.

With the lineup
Denis "Snake" Belanger - Vocals
Michel "Away" Langevin - Drums
Jean-Yves "Blacky" Theriault - Bass
Dan Mongrain (MARTYR) - Guitar

if you have ever seen a show filmed in Japan before usually the crowd is lethargic, but not at this show, that in itself is unique and not the norm for Japan. It is a testament to Voivod and their live show.

The Set list was:

Voivod
The Prow
The Unknown Knows
Ravenous Medicine
Overreaction
Tribal Convictions
Tornado
Panorama
Nuclear War
Nothingface
Brain Scan
Astronomy Domine

For tornado they changed the lyrics of the song to Tatsumaki, and they also dedicated the final song of the show to Piggy, who had always wanted to play Japan, but never made it, as he passed away in 2005.

Extra features on this dvd include an in depth interview with Foo Fighter Dave Grohl, who talks about his youth and discovery of Voivod, interview was shot by Samm Dunn, and Scott McFadyen of Metal a headbangers Journey, Global Metal, and Flight 666 The Iron Maiden Movie. Also Video of Voivods July 17th, 2009 set in Quebec City, Canada. Also A tour slide show of the Japan trip.

This is a must have dvd for any fan of punk, metal or Voivod. The thrashing guitar work, and drum beats set to that french Canadian accent in the vocals is just unique and bad ass!

2 thumbs up!
