I got to the Whisky at 7 PM to get in line for another amazing recreation of The Doors live in concert by Wild Child. We were let in at around 7.30 but there was a long wait before the band finally hit the stage at 9 o clock amongst loud cheers. It was their customary opening song Roadhouse Blues. Soul Kitchen followed. After that the vocalist Dave Brock announced that they are going to play two sets and they'll try playing everything that we would want to hear. I would say they definitely kept that promise!

The first set had quite a few songs from the self-titled album like Twentieth Century Fox, Alabama Song, Soul Kitchen and Crystal Ship. Almost all of the songs were fun to sing along to, specially Love Me Two Times and Touch Me. Other than these there were a couple other songs before they closed out the first set with Gloria and When The Music's Over. This set was exactly an hour long.

They took a 30-minute break and came back out for the second set at 10.30. This set had the more popular Doors tunes. They opened with Break On Through. I love how Dave Brock has added his own poetry to some of the songs. This song was an example of that. The added poetry and lyrics enhance the songs without disrupting their original flavor and rhythm. Peace Frog was played after this. Some stuff off of the Waiting For The Sun album was also included in this set. The middle of the set was a treat to watch as it had the songs Wild Child, Riders of the Storm and Love Her Madly. The last three songs were the usual Light My Fire, LA Woman and the perfect closing song, The End.

This band amazes me every time I see them. They are able to recreate the magic of The Doors shows very successfully. The real Doors concerts were something that unfortunately I never got to experience because Jim Morrison died 14 years before I was even born. But I am really glad and grateful for the fact that Wild Child are around. Being a huge fan of The Doors, I can definitely say that you need not look beyond Wild Child if you want your ultimate Doors experience. Dave's voice, stage impressions of Jim, the performances of the other members and the effects created by the combination of lights and smoke all add to make it the most authentic tribute one would ever see.

If you ever want to get trippy in the head without using the illegal stuff, go to a Wild Child concert! You will feel like you are back in the late 1960s. I don't see anything else than can be more trippy! I'm looking forward to see them again very soon.
