Witchery - Witchkrieg
Review: Larry

As an avid metal listener, it usually takes me a few listens for an album to really sink in. With Witchery's latest release, Witchkrieg, it was more so. I've been listening for the past 2 weeks to make sure that I would give it a real fair chance. And after 2 weeks, I have come to this conclusion…it's a mediocre metal album. You would expect a Magnum opus from this current 'super' lineup, but at 35 minutes long it's a let down.
I stay away from all other reviews and media outlets while listening so that I am not swayed by other opinions and just found out today about all of the guest appearances. In my opinion, it didn't make the CD any better. Although Andy LaRoques solo on track 6 was amazing, the rest of the song seemed too repetitive. Kerry King played a solo on track 1 also, which was pretty good., but didn't make the song any better.
One of the good thing about the CD is the production. Amazing clarity from the excellent mixing. Everything stands out and the drumming is immaculate. The bottom line is that all of the 'extra' guest didn't add much too the whole and, in my opinion, it fell short of 1999 Dead, Hot and Ready; which to me, is Witchery at it's best.
