On a hot and steamy July night along the Ohio River, the Riverbend Music Center’s was treated to the monstrous experience that is Slipknot.

Opening this night’s music was Of Mice and Men followed by Marilyn Manson. Of Mice and Men started with their song “Public Service Announcement” and gave the night a big kick with a fast and hard set setting the tone for the night. As smoke filled the air, Mason and his band mates made their way to the stage as they started their set with “Angel with the Scabbed Wings”. All of the theatrics he is known for including walking through the crowd on stilts and dropping Manson currency on the crowd were some of the highlights.

Slipknot is a spectacle that truly needs to be experienced live and in person.

Fire covered melting mannequins filled the large video screen as the band came to the stage to the screams and cheers of the fans. Starting the set with “The Negative One” the whole venue exploded as everyone joined in singing and pumping their fists with the band. With all of the band members filling the stage there is action wherever you look.

Shawn "Clown" Crahan and Chis Fehn on dueling rotating drum lifts on the corners of the stage singing and drumming with each song atop their precarious vantage points. The electric string section of this incredible group feature guitarist Mick Thomson and Jim Root working the stage and the crowd while bassist Alessandro Venturella attacked his bass shaking the stage. Corey Taylor never stops moving like a caged tiger at the zoo, looking at the members of the crowd as a predator stalks its prey. He works the crowd and delivers each song with everything he has leaving it all on the stage.

If you ever have the chance to see Slipknot live make it a point to mark it off your concert bucket list.
